Using Musescore for a visual art work

I would like to manipulate a piano score to appear without the staff lines for an art work. Is it possible to scan sheet music, save it as musicxml, and then remove just the staves, leaving the notes in their original locations? Would another software product work better for this? Any help would be apreciated. Thank you.
