Why were measures changed to bars?

Specifically under the 'Add' menu, we now have insert or append bars, instead of insert or append measures.

I ask because it took me a second to realize it meant measure, and not barline. Measure and bar may mean the same thing, but measure is a lot more clearly differentiated from barline.

Measure is the American word and bar is the British word. Laurelin was seeing the British words rather than the American. British English is a translation from what is in the American English code of the program. There are also several other words that are different in British English, especially in Musical terms.
