Ties arranged obliquely (automatic placement) if more than one voice exists in a staff (MuseScore 3)
Ties and slurs are arranged obliquely by the automatic placement when multiple voices (or chords) are used in a staff. This is especially annoying with the tie, as it looks more like a slur:

now test with only the first voice, but flip the stems in the same direction (up) as the automatic result by having multiple voices.

@jeetee: If one only changes the direction of the stems and does not use a 2nd voice or chords,
then the tie…
(a) is not oblique, if both stems point in the same direction:
(b) is not oblique, when the first is pointing down and the second is pointing up:
(c) is oblique, when the first is pointing upwards and the second is pointing downwards:

what happens when you also flip the tie in (a), to match the layout direction as otherwise forced by the 2nd voice?

I thought that was going to be an Occupational Thearpie or a premature April Fools' Day, but flipping the tie in (a) is actually making the tie crooked:

Which initially was my point, it's not multiple voices that makes the tie/slur crooked. It's the stem/tie direction combination that does.
It just so happens that using multiple voices forces this combination of directions by default… Anyhow, if Marc's on it there's a pretty high chance of it ending up fixed ;-)
Yes, I think the tie issue is due to a change I made recently to fix cross-staff ties. The intent was to allow the tie to follow the arc for enharmonic changes (eg, A# tied to Bb) but apparently it occasionally does this unnecessarily. Can you please file an official bug report for this (Support / Issue tracker, above)? Should be a very easy fix.
For slurs, it's a different issue, the attachment point can vary depending on a bunch of factors. I'll need to investigate further to see what the rules actually say.
