Synthesizer wont work, along with playback
ive done literally everything. i've done everything anyone has said. nothing works. ill give an internet high five to anyone that suggests something that i havent done.

Are you on windows? If so right click the speaker icon on the task bar and choose Open volume mixer and make sure MuseScore is not muted or turned down reeeaaalllly low.

the playback is greyed out completely, adn i cant use the sythnesizer since that is also greyed out

Are you using windows? did you try what I suggested?
Did it ever work in the version of MuseScore you are using or did you just upgrade? If you upgraded what version were you using and which are you using now?

i havent upgraded, and its worked before. i didnt try what you said becuase i literally can not use the playback on musescore at all, so turning the sound up wont do anything. im on the latest version of 3.

If it's muted the synthesizer will be grayed out. It's not the only cause but it has been known to happen.

i checked the volume mixer and musescore isnt even there

That would be a problem. Don't be offended by stupid questions, but we don't want to miss something simple. Did you use the scroll bar at the bottom of the Volume mixer to make sure you can't see it?

yeah i used it, i seen everything else thats currently launched except for musescore

You will have to wait for someone with more knowledge than me to wake up, which should be in the next hour or two. Most of the people found here are in Europe, I'm in the USA getting ready to go to bed.

Windows 10?
What kind of hardware are you using... bluetooth speakers, or 'built-in' laptop speakers, or speakers plugged into a (desktop) sound card, or plugged into the motherboard, or headphones, or other?
In MuseScore, what does a screenshot of menu item: Preferences -> I/O tab look like?

yeah im using a bluetooth headset, and my I/Q is blank and cant be changed
edit: just saw i had my jack audio on for the pic but when i check off the port audio it doesnt do anything and its still blank

i cant access the synth but i havent downloaded any other ones. i should just have the stock ones.
I assume you restarted the audio engine? Greyed out play panels are tied, for me, to the unavailability of an audio out (or possibly no callback from the endpoint buffer. Click restart audio engine) The available devices have been "allocated." This frequently occurs if another app has gained exclusive control of those devices. Some of these problems can be solved by choosing a different audio API in the I/0 window. You might also want to make sure "exclusive control" is unchecked in the windows sound panel.

ive restarted it multipe times now, i would choose a new api in the I/0 but all the options to choose something are blanked out.
