Working with ChordNames crashes in r2415
I am using nightly build r-2415 on a windows XP SP3 system. When trying to add or edit chord names the program does not respond and eventually crashes. I use the following steps.
1. Select note
2. hit ctrl-k
Instead of the normal blue box where you then type the chord name, a single vertical line appears and the program will not respond to keyboard. If you click a different area of the score the box disappears. If you retry the above it will eventually crash.
The same non-responsive behaviour occurs when you use create/text/chordname from the menu and when you double click and existing chord name to edit it.

I get the single vertical line instead of the box, but I don't have any trouble typing the chord names and I'm not able to reproduce a crash.
(using r.2415 nightly, Windows XP).
What do you mean by the "score box"?

I believe this is the line you were questioning. 'If you click a different area of the score the box disappears." should have been line disappears rather than the box disappears. I will try again. If It continues I will attach the score. Will also try with a different score.

David;
I wiped out the original r-2415,defragged the drive, and downloaded and installed again. I can start to type a chord name, but I can not added it to the score. When I hit space to add it and move to the nest available location to place another chord it does nothing. if i try to click in an empty part of the score it immediately crashes. If I create a new score from scratch and add notes then try to add chord names I get the same thing. I opened the demo score in the released 9.0.5 version and all works fine. i have attached the original score I had the problem with. I am truly flummoxed with this one.

What note are you selecting to add a chord (maybe it makes a difference)? Are you able to make other types of changes to the score besides chordnames?
Are you closing or switching tabs before you open or after you open the score? There are lost of crashes related to that in the last few nightly builds.

In that particular score I tried the G in measure 10 of the vocal staff and the Eb in voice 2 of the right hand piano staff with the same result. Haven't been doing much of anything in tabs. I even did a fresh start of MuseScore and creates a dummy score from scratch and got the same results when I tried to enter chord names.I have no problem doing much else with the score except the chord names. A thought just struck me and will try other text related functions. Other than that it has me stumped. I haven't had software stump me in a long time.

It is beginning to look like it is a system problem on my end. It now sort of works. i can insert chord names, but only one at a time. If I type the chord name, then immediately click with the mouse on another area of the score, it adds the chord name. However if I use the space bar to insert and advance to the next position it crashes. Looks like it is time to reformat and start again. I may just try backtracking a couple of nightly versions and seeing if that makes any difference.

Let us know if the 2405 nightly works or an earlier prerelease.
Out of curiosity, do you have a printer installed on your computer?
Have you tried to Revert to factory settings ? In the latest nightlies there is a shortcut for this in the "special" folder.

I tried 2405 and had the same problem. Just for giggles I installed the prerelease and it will not even open the file. It appears to try for a while and then crashes with the usual windows "I'm sorry ..." message.
I do not have printer attached at the moment. There is a driver loaded for my Lexmark, but don't have it connected at the moment, plus I have a pdf printer installed.
I have not tried the revert, but will give it a shot. Will most likely be doing a system rebuild in the near future.
Edit: also tried latest r-2418 with same results. Tried the "revert to factory settings" with r-2418 with same results as soon as I hit the space bar it froze and then crashed.i am at a loss for this one.
