Note that by pretty much every objective metric that exists this is quite a big step backwards in terms of stability of the software.

Yes.
I will happily continue to compose on version 3.1 with a successful temporary workaround suggested by Jo-Jo Schmitz to the other very severe problem.
But thank you for linking me the Oregon State University file transfer protocol site, anyway.
