Brackets snap back to one staff after editing

I wanted to set brackets to staffs (lines) 2 and 3 of a three line system. Setting the bracket to one staff and editing afterwards is possible, but as soon as i leave the edit mode, the bracket snaps back to the old size (one staff only).
What mus t I do in order to have the brackets stay the size I gave them by editing?
