He didn't ask for a chord identifier, but an automatic composition assistant that harmonizes melodies believably. Didn't we discuss that at length here recently? Maybe the OP wants harmonies for someone else's melodies, which is an odd thing to do, but I don't think that anyone incapable of choosing even simple harmonies for a song he or she has written should be writing songs. Of course, adding complex jazz harmonies, or complex "classical" harmonies for that matter, is not so easy, and engineering software that could do that credibly (understanding phrase structure, patterns in the melody, etc) would be good graduate work. How would a user lacking basic skills in harmony evaluate its output?

I can not get either to work.
yes I am working on my own piece. I write on my instrument but I am trying to get the dots down and add some chords to it. sorry that you feel that my music theory limitations mean that I should not try to create music.

No, I think you should try, and on the piano or with MuseScore, try different chords and remove those limitations.

Very fast harmony school:
Notes in the melody can be: root, third of or the fifth of any chord. // or(rarely) the seventh note of 5th degree chord.
Find the significant/important note (or notes) in measure (or half measure). // and/or look at the 1st and/or 3rd beats.
Give it a try accordingly.

I go with Ziya, who is always right! Try different chords such that the melody is (for a start), the root, third, or fifth of the chords. There are many great tutorials, let alone Wikipedia articles, on the construction of chords. I apologize for the harshness of my original remark, and again reemphasize that this is the occasion to learn about chords,
