macOS; Install MS 3.3 RC imposes crash in startsequence of MS 3.2.3.22971 and MS 3.3 RC, Apps remain non launchable

I encountered and encounter the following:

  1. MS 3.2.3.22971 working installation.
  2. Install MS 3.3 RC.
  3. Launch MS 3.3 RC.
    --> Message: Extension Packs Updates available.
  4. Starting Updating of Extension Packs.
  5. Update of Extension Packs finishes with closing MS 3.3 RC (Crash).

  6. Relaunch MS 3.3 RC.
    --> Startupsequence takes more than 1 minute, then selfquit. CPU-Usage during this procedure nearly 100%, activity-indication as non responding app. Reproducable from now on.

  7. Launching MS 3.2.3.22971.
    --> Startupsequence takes more than 1 minute, then selfquit. CPU-Usage during this procedure nearly 100%, activity-indication as non responding app. Reproduceable from now on.

Results:
• Non-launchable MS 3.2.3.
• Non-launchable MS 3.3 RC.

Ah, I see. MDL is know to cause a huge delay in MuseScore startup time, usually far more than just a minute.
On top 3.2.3 and 3.3RC do share their settings.

Did you have the MDS extension installed in 3.2.3 but then removed its soundfonts from the Synthesizer settings? If so, 3.3 RC might have found that update and in installing it also installed the soundfons again.

To get back into a working config I'm affraid you'd have to revert to factory settings, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings#instruction…
