Why does it have to be so hard to create a custom palette with custom fretboard diagrams.
I've read the documentation, looked at the forums, I still can't figure out how to do it.
Can anyone help me please? Thanks.

What version of MuseScore?
Is the diagram for some exotic instrument that needs customization(s); or is it, for instance, for a 6-string guitar?
How far along do you get creating your custom fretboard diagram?
Do you manage to create it, but can't save it into a palette?
Please post a score showing a few measures of a score with a chord that you would like to have displayed as a fretboard diagram.

Thanks so much for your reply jm6stringer.
version 3.4.1.25011
diagram for a six string guitar
I was able to create a new palette and also to drag one of the fretboard diagrams from the standard palette of fretboard diagrams to my new custom palette, but I can't figure out what to do after that. (I cannot edit that new fretboard diagram in my custom palette).
I am not trying to create a fretboard diagram from a chord spelled out in the treble clef. Instead, I am just trying to create fretboard diagrams of chords that I want to drag to the score.

When a Fretboard Diagram is selected, it can be edited in the Inspector as follows:
The Inspector displays three sections related to the Fretboard Diagram:

If I have a fretboard diagram in a score and I click on it, I can indeed edit it in the inspector. But I am unable to then put that chord into my custom palette. When I click on a chord in my custom palette, the inspector remains empty. So I am wondering how I can get a chord into my custom palette.

The problem is that the modified chord won't go into the palette.

Don't drag from the Inspector - drag from the score itself. Again, Cmd+Shift+drag on Mac. So the full process is:
1) click a note or rest in your score
2) click one of the diagrams in the palette to add it to your score
3) use the Inspector to customize the appearance of the diagram as desired
4) Cmd+Shiftdrag *the fretboard diagram in your score back to the palette (no need to create a custom one, btw, unless you feel like it - but you can just add to the existing fretboard diagram palette)

Thanks for your response Marc. Your procedure describes exactly what I did, but when I try to drag the fretboard diagram in the score with command shift held down the diagram won't move.

Are you using a mouse, a touchpad?
Open this score:
Chord_diagrams.mscz
...select and Cmd+Shift drag a chord diagram from the score itself, not the Inspector, into a palette.
What happens? Does the whole diagram itself move? Do you release when in the palette?

I think I found the problem. When I drag the diagram it doesn't appear to move but if I go ahead and drag to the palette anyway then when I get inside the palette it suddenly appears and I can release it into the palette. There's a minor problem though. The diagram I drag into the palette isn't centered like the other diagrams. See the off-center diagram with the 11th fret marked. But anyway, it's finally working!! Thanks to you and everyone on this thread for your helps!

Sounds like you probably positioned it manually before adding it to the palette. That offset is preserved, so don’t do that - add it to the palette before worrying about manual adjustments.

That looks like a chord from my attachment, "Chord_diagrams.mscz", so not the OP's adjustment.

Actually, just realized that it's so far off-center that you can't see the thinnest string in the palette.

OK... delete it and try to make your own (different) diagram(s) from scratch.
