When I add a measure, I lose a system on the page
Hi,
This score is missing a measure between measure 7 and 8. However, when I insert a measure, the system below moves to the next page. Why does it do that? I want 3 systems per page. I keep thinking there's something invisible that I need to remove, but I can't find it. Can someone help me?
Thank you!

Remove the system break at the end of measure 7.

When I do this, it still happens. When I remove the ties of the notes in measure seven, I get all three systems on the page but with a huge gap between the 2nd and third system.

Definitely some weird behavior here!
To fix:
1. Insert the measure as you did in your picture, but don't remove the ties. You will have 2 systems on page one. The third system gets bounced to page 2.
2. Place a 'Staff spacer fixed down' from the Breaks & Spacers palette onto the bottom of system 2 on page one. Adjust accordingly.

You'll probably want to delete then re-enter the word "Weep" in the bass clef, measure 9 because of a very long melisma underline which strangely appears.
See attached.
But there really isn't enough room on that system to add anything into that measure, you'd need to decreas the overall size (Format > Page settings > Space) or use wider paper or narrower page borders (same dialog)

I don't care if the measures move to the next system. The problem is that there is a huge space between system 2 and 3. I want to have 3 systems on the first page. When this measure was missing, 3 systems fit easily onto page 1. (My first mscz attachment shows how the systems fit onto the first page.) When I add the measure, the only way to get 3 systems on one page is to reduce the space between systems, etc., There ends up being a huge ugly gap between systems. (My second screenshot attachment shows this.) I have uploaded the mscz file that shows what happens when I add the measure and then try to get 3 systems on the first page. I would like to remove the huge gap between systems 2 and 3 so that the 3 systems are evenly spaced.
Thank you in advance for trying to help. I'm thinking there must be something invisible trying to take up the space...

Pllace a 'Staff spacer fixed down' from the Breaks & Spacers palette onto the bottom of system 2 on page 1. Adjust accordingly.
See my post above. There is something weird going on though.

Try Ctrl+A, Ctrl+R, that resets everything to the default position

Works!

Still a weirdly long (melisma) underline on the first "Weep" lyric, system 2 in the bass clef.
Definitely some weird behavior here!
Inserting a new measure bewtween other measures on system 2, like between measures 9 - 10 and onwards, produce no anomaly.

Thank you both for your help. I kept taking that melisma line out, and putting it back in properly. Then every time I would reopen the document, it would be there again. Hopefully that's fixed too, but if its not, its not a deal breaker that other problem was.
Thank you!
