You need to make them into two separate instruments in MuseScore.
1. Press [i] to open the Instruments window and add another Piano instrument. Click OK.
2. Cut and paste the bass clef staff from one instrument into the other.
3. Press [i] again and remove the bass clef from the first piano, and remove the treble clef from the second.
Welcome to MuseScore!

Unfortunately this only partially works. When exporting to MIDI, it will invert the left and right hand on the piano, regardless of the order you put your first piano or second piano. My electronic piano cannot seem to play both of them at the same time too, only one. Another MIDI files works just fine though where the left hand be played separately, right hand can be played separately, and then both hands together

Hmm, this certainly should work. Hard to say what might have gone wrong, but if you attach your score (or a relevant excerpt) we can understand and assist better.

I loaded your score into MsueScore 3.4.2, exported as MIDI, then imported the result back into MuseScore. All was as I expected - the top staff was MIDI channel 1 and remained on top, bottom staff was MIDI channel 2 and remained on bottom. Am I misunderstanding something?

Hm thank you for testing. For some reason, it appears to be working now. I don't know. Maybe it's something to do with my piano. Thanks again!

Hi Isaac, is there a way to automated this process with a single key or mouse click after loading a midi file?

How to do this depends on how the original MIDI file was structured. If it was already two tracks on separate channels, one answer; if the original MIDI used two tracks but the same channel, it's another answer; it's the original MIDI was a single track and a single channel, it's another answer. If you attach your MIDI file and explain in more detail what you are trying to do, we can understand and assist better.

Thanks for your answer. I didn't see it until now :)
Wouldn't it be nice if there is a macro like function to record and replay user interaction so we can do it once and then apply it to other similar pieces.
