how to set stems and beams through staff on tablature

I'm writing down some guitar exercises in tablature, and I'd like to have the stems and beams appear on or through the staff rather than below it.

I right click on the staff > Staff/Part Properties... > Advanced Style Properties... > Note Values but the Through staff option is inactive and not selectable. I do have Show as: set to Stems and beams as mentioned in the handbook: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/staff-part-properties#fret-marks

Is there some other option I must enable or disable? Or have I misread the handbook?

Try this:
Press I (the letter).
Then, under 'Staff type', expand the drop down list and change to 'Tab. 6-str. full'.
If desired, you can get rid of the time signature and any rests displaying by using Staff/Part Properties.
