Ties or slurs on chords
If I have a 2 or 3 part chord tied over two notes, how can I put a tie between each pair of notes. Selecting a slur seems only to apply it to the lowest note and it won't let me put another in for the higher notes.

Thanks. I would never have found or guess that function!

Well, maybe the handbook would have been of help too ;-)

You do not need to place a slur from every note in a chord to every note in the next chord.

Ties are different. See:

But this is in fact very commonly done in orchestral scores where two parts share a staff and are written in chords. Currently trying to add a slur between the bottom notes of two chords doesn't work as expected (it just adds another slur between the top notes, even if only the bottom notes are selected).
Not even doing it in two voices initially and implode works.

...but what does is to simply add one slur, select it then press "X" to flip it to the bottom, then select the two chords again add another one. So not too painful.

Use voices then

For whatever reason that's not how they're traditionally done, presumably because it results in an unnecessary number of stems. Anyway I found the solution.
