Scoring a rhythm Guitar

• May 14, 2020 - 06:58

My partial score is attached. Note in the first 2 measures I have shown the rhythm guitar with just hash marks instead of the actual notes of the chord. During playback nothing sounds for the rhythm guitar even though the notes were there before the hash marks were added (toggled). Is there a way to use this form of notation and still hear the playback?

I also struggled to figure out how to break up the rhythm so the eighth notes would display properly. I found that showing the rhythm with rests and then toggling the hashes did not work (I think it should). So I then added actual notes with the correct rhythm and then toggled the hashes. This did work but the notes are silent. Is this a bug or did I do something wrong?

Thanks

Go to the Inspector and re-check the Play box for those notes. It is disabled by default when enabling rhythmic slash notation because most people (well, me anyhow) don't bother entering real chords there.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking about eighth notes. Rhythmic slash notation can include rests, so it's correct that enabling it in a measure with nothing but rests won't do anything. Only notes are affected.
