Version 2.0.3

• Apr 8, 2016 - 06:14

I'm trying to install MuseScore 2.0.3, but there are some problems.
I'm running Linux Mint, which in this respect is Ubuntu 14.04.
The problems are these:
The AppImage does not create a menu entry, and no icon, and no automatic launch of MuseScore on .mscz file extension (etc).
The prescription for installing 2.0.3 by defining a new PPA for MuseScore, results in the installation of MuseScore 1.3.
I've been very happy with 2.0.2, so I would like to be able to install 2.0.3 properly.
Please give us a package so we can do that.

Thanks.

Official packages will surely follow, but these are up to the individual distribution maintainers, so that might take a little while.

Meanwhile, it shouldn't be hard to create your own menu entry, icon, and file association, although the details of how to do that differ from one distirbution and desktop environment to another.

EDIT: hmm, it occurs to me a quick and dirty solution might be to replace the "mscore" executable in /usr/bin (or wherever it is installed on your system) with a simple shell script that just calls the AppImage. Or maybe just make it a symbolic link.
