Adding or removing notes between verses
Hello,
I've written a song for my daughter. The second verse follows the melody of the first verse except in a couple of places. For example, in the first verse it uses two 1/16th notes for the words "For a" but in the second verse I want an 1/8th note for the word "To" instead of the two 1/16th notes.
Also, the first verse ends with a dotted half note and quarter rest. However, at the end of the second verse there is an 1/8th note lead-in to the third verse. How would I add this 1/8th note to play after the second verse but not in the first verse.
I hope this makes some sense. Thank you for your assistance.

It's kind of up to you how you want to notate this; you might want to see how other sheet music does it. The two most common ways I see are to either ignore the difference - just add the lyrics and let the singer out how the rhythm might differ - or use multiple voice, with the secpnd voice for the second verse, usually in small notes.

On measure 3, I have seen the following on some scores:
* Tie the last 2 notes
* Edit the properties of the tie so that it appears as dashed
The intention is quite clear: "For" and "a" will have to be sung as 1/16th notes and "To" as 1/8th. You can emphasize this by typing a dash after "To".

You are right, that's what I meant but my brain is not fully wired for French to English translation. :D
