How to move a note to next free place?

Hello,
is this feature possible anyway?
If I fill a clef and then decide to decrease the length of the first note the now empty part is filled by a rest.
Now I am always tempted to select the next note and drag it via drag and drop to the free position.
Is there a way doing that beside copy pasting (which works, but is quite cumbersome)
