Problem converting to xml?

• Feb 24, 2009 - 11:19

Hello, I am using musescore to convert a midi file to xml (then trying to run the xml2hum program). I keep getting error such as:
!! error processing chromatic alteration of: -11
I know this isn't a humdrum forum, but it seems like only xml files created from musescore are having this problem. I am running it from the command line to create the xml such as "mscore thisscore.midi -o thisscore.xml"

Has anyone seen this or does anyone know what might be happening?? Thanks for any insight.

ps, I've tried several different versions of musescore (including the latest and greatest beta). (also, i'm running humdrum using cygwin)

If I understand well you use humdrum to create the midi file. Then you want to load the midi file into musescore and create a MusicXML file from the midi file. Is that right ?

If yes, can you attach the midi file ? And are you aware that in MIDI you will loose a lot of things like beaming preferences etc ... ?

actually, I just downloaded the midi file (don't have it here at work - i'll attach this eve). I downloaded the midi, and want to get it into humdrum. the method that was recommended was to first convert to xml then to humdrum. I use musescore to convert my midi to xml.
