In desperate need of technical support - Musescore 2.0.3 for Windows 7
I have seen where others have had issues installing the 2.0.3 update. In my case, not only could I not locate an -rc file deemed satisfactory by the installer, but it also corrupted my 2.0.2 program to the point where it is unusable and cannot be uninstalled. In other words, my laptop is completely without Musescore 2 (I have 1.3, still, but it will not open 2.0 files) and I'm at my wit's end as to how to remedy this situation. I have tried running the installer as an administrator through the command prompt, but that failed with all the underwhelming misery as the point-and-click route. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by an "rc" file. For Windows you should just beed to click the download link and everything should work smoothly. What specifically goes wrong?
Also, if you were not able to install 2.0.3, then 2.0.2 should remain unchanged. When you say it is "unusable", what specifically goes wrong?

The 2.0.3 installer is asking me to locate the file "musescore-2.0-rc.msi", which cannot be found on my hard drive. I tried opening the v2.0.2 that I had been using, but it isn't on my drive anymore. I tried uninstalling 2.0.2 through the control panel, but that didn't work, either. Repairing it also proved fruitless. Now, both the 2.0.2 and the 2.0.3 installers both demand I locate the above-mentioned file before I can continue.

If the MuseScore 2.0.3 install failure was recent, why not do a System Restore to an earlier time - i.e. when 2.0.2 was working? (It's reversible, if it doesn't work.)
Then try a new download of 2.0.3.

What makes you think 2.0.2 isn't on your system any more? Please describe *exactly* what you are doing - step by step - and at what step somethng goes wrong, and the exact error you see. Very likely it is still there, but somehow you are misintepreting something you are seeing.
As far as I know, the 2.0.3 installer *is* the file you are looking for, so I don't understand what you you think you are running that is asking you for that file. Here again, it would help if you described *exactly* - step by step - what you are doing. And the *exact* text of the error message you see.
I'm guessing maybe you have downlaoded the file, are trying to run it, but Windows is unable to understand that it *is* in fact an installer, because something has gone wrong on your system to break the file association that allows Windows to know what that file is. @Marc We've seen several reports in the past where upon installing the latest msi, it asks to point to the previous downloaded/installed msi. We believe the reason is because the msi system wants to use the uninstall routine from old msi file. And so when you have the old msi on your system, simply point to it and the installation of the latest msi will go through.
@michaelcbro please download the RC and run the installation of 2.0.3 msi again. If asked, point to the download RC file. If things do not work out, you can always use the portable version of MuseScore: https://musescore.org/en/download/musescore-portable.exe

This is why it is a good idea to save a msi (MuseScore or others, it is not MuseScore specific) in a permanent folder and only after that double click to install.
If you install from your "download" folder, most probably the folder will be cleaned up from time to time and Windows won't be happy when it tries to find the msi to repair or uninstall the software.
