opening XML crashes MuseScore

• Sep 7, 2008 - 21:06

Hello,
I am trying to make the painful transition from Finale to native Linux score editors. As I understand it I should be able to open an XML file with MuseScore. Therefore I made an XML file with Finale 2006, and tried to open it with MuseScore. As a result, MuseScore closed.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04
MuseScore version 0.9.4 according to the splash screen; 0.9.1 revision 646 according to the "About Box."

Terminal gives me this:
Suspending PulseAudio
fluidsynth: warning: Failed to pin the sample data to RAM; swapping is possible.

I hope this post follows all formatting paradigms, thank you.

Could you share the xml file? You can upload/attach it to a comment.
Perhaps we can reproduce this on windows as well and narrow it down to a certain xml element which causes the crash.

Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to distribute the file. However I have discovered that lilypond cannot convert it either. Other files seem to convert (if not perfectly), so it is clearly the file itself. Therefore the problem is not one with your software. Sorry to place the blame incorrectly. If I can find the root of the problem, I will post it here as a follow up.
Thank You.
