Problems with entering notes via the keyboard
I run mscore-1.0-1.fc15.x86_64 in LINUX/Fedora15 . I use the german version (starting mscore with LC_ALL=de_DE). After having studied the german documentation I learned on page #3 that notes can be entered by keys. So far so good. But there are some problems:
1. It seems that the key "H" is not accepted, I found out the the key "B" has to be taken. It seems the note keys are language dependent.
2. It's not clear, in which line of a system , if I enter a note by the keyboard, the note is registered. The behaviour seems to be stochastic. For example, in a piano score, one does not know how to enter by the keyboard notes in the upper line, or in the lower bass line.
3. Entering notes by the keys CDEF..., the input sometimes starts with C, sometimes with C' or C'',.... It seems, the note position of CDEFG... depends from some cirumstances which are not described.
4. Somtimes notes via the keyboard are not accepted, despite the fact I previously pressed the "n" key. Instead I get an error popup "Es ist keine Note ausgewählt:
Bitte wählen Sie eine Note aus und wiederholen die Operation."
Comments
1. Note entry is language indepentant, hence the (international) B needs to be used for the (german) Note H
But you can configure these shortcuts (note though that h and H are used already, for crescendo and diminuendo, "hairpin")
2.+3. it should be the nearst possible to the previous note of the stave with the current note
Try looking at the video tutorials (on the front page of musescore.org) the first few even have german subtitles

to 1.: I think, the german handbook must be adjusted.
to 2.: What to do if there is no previous note, for example if I begin to edit a fresh score?

Re 2). As I do not read German, I do not understand the error message you quote. But, in general, if there are no notes (new score), there are at least rests: try selecting one (the first?) of them.

I think, the translation of
"Es ist keine Note ausgewählt: Bitte wählen Sie eine Note aus und wiederholen die Operation."
is
"No note selected: please select a note and repeat the operation".
Addendum: My first operation after creating the score was pressing the "n" key for entering notes, then I entered an allowed key for notes (CDEFGAB)".
