i used a couple of dynamics ('fff' & 'ff') and now i want to return to the original force.
So is it 'mf' or 'mp' or neither?

There is no definitive answer unless you put a dynamic marking at the beginning - which you should always do. After all, how you a person playing your score know how loud to play?
