Make rests invisible for a particular voice

• Jul 2, 2011 - 16:11

Often creating a new voice is just a device to simplify notation - the voice appears and disappears as required. However if it is just a contruct to allow the positioning of one or two notes, it may result in a series of preceding or following rests which must then be set invisible to avoid clutter. It would be useful to be able to hide all rests for a particular voice, and/or to hide all rests for any voice in selected bars.

Some of this is doable. If you can select the rest, right click and set invisible works. So the trick is just doing the selection. You can select *all* rests in a given voice using the right click menu. All that's really needed here is the ability to limit this to a given range.

Thanks for this. I knew I could make rests invisible, but trying to select them in a cluttered bar can be exasperating, hence my request. By 'right click menu' I assume you mean right click on one of the rests, choose 'select all similar elements' from that right click menu, then right-click the rest again and choose 'Set invisible'. However as you say that is global in effect, but it will help with some of my problems.
