cannot edit lyrics after lyric mode exits
A hyphen, of the type to separate syllables in lyrics, cannot be added once lyric mode is exited. See the attached score; the syllables of "numquam" in the 7th staff cannot be edited. Also note that there are no instructions in the manual for editing this character or melismas.

Double click the syllable, enter the dash, hit esc.
Dashes are part of the lyrics, so get entered in lyrics entry mode. I'm pretty sure lyrics and dashes are explained in the Manual (see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/lyrics), as is getting into text entry and out (see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/text-editing)
