Can I connect Roland F-140R to Musescore?

• Sep 9, 2016 - 21:46

I'm looking at purchasing a Roland F-140R digital piano that features bluetooth. I'm wondering if I can use it to compose directly from the keyboard in Musescore. This is something completely new to me and I thought I'd ask if it's possible here. Has anyone done this with this model? Do I need more software?

Thanks a lot!

If it can appear to your OS as a standard MIDI device, then you can use it to enter music as described in the Handbook under note input - which is to say, it's still one noe at a time, just like the other ways of entering notes (typing letter names, clicking on the staff, or clicking in the piano keyboard window).

MuseScore does not currently support 'real-time' note input, no matter what device is used for the input itself. IOW, you will still have to enter the note durations before entering any pitch, whether via your computer keyboard, mouse-click, or midi device. That said, using a midi device such as the electronic keyboard you are considering purchashing, has certain advantages, particularly in respect to getting the input to appear in the correct octave.
