Change to Export menu options
Currently there is Export... and Export Parts... in the File menu.
Export... exports only the score, regardless of what tab you are currently viewing.
Export Parts... exports all the parts, regardless of what tab you are currently viewing.
This might make an odd kind of sense from a composer's point of view, but it is not practical in the real world of computers and files.
What makes sense to me as far more generic, yet no additional options, is the following:
Export... exports the current tab, be it a score or a part.
and
Export Parts... same as before
or
Export All... exports everything, score + parts
The main thing is that Export... should not be limited to the score tab. I should be able to export an individual part and nothing more, just as I print the currently visible tab's part by default.

I am thoroughly confused. What you're describing first is not the reality that I see, and what you describe second as what you would prefer is almost exactly what it already is.
Currently:

Export Parts... exports everything, score + parts.

I see that you are correct, Export does export the current tab, not simply the score. It even creates an automatic filename by default. My mistake.
