B# is equal C and E# = F

It would be nice If MuseScore has a function that's when user enter:

B# MuseScore just automatic changes to C note
Cb MuseScore just automatic changes to B note
E# MuseScore just automatic changes to F note
Fb MuseScore just automatic changes to E note

B and C are separated by a diatonic semitone, whereas B and B# are separated by a chromatic semitone. C and B# are not the same note. This also applies to E# and F.

True, but it's still a useful lie to tell sometimes for readability. And there are situations, like so-called tritone substitutions, that rely on the fact that they sound "close enough" (and indeed are identical on most Western instruments). So I too have wished at times for a simple command to respell a given note or passage. There is the global respell command, but it generally is too heavy handed to be useful for this.

Of course, you wouldn't normallyhave E# et al to worry about unless you created them yourself, except through the result of transposition. So it's mostly cleanup of transpositions where I wish for simple a "respell selected notes" command. As it is, though, it's only two keystrokes to hit up arrow followed by down arrow, or the reverse, which generally does the job just as well.

Finale has a keyboard shortcut which enables you to change any note to its enharmonic equivalent.

So C would become B#, G# would become Ab and so on. I' can't remember whether you can do double sharps and flats with this though.

To me this is the simplest way round it, as a plugin could then be written which would change all Cs to B#s in a selection.

In Finale it toggles each time you press.

I agree - would be a great feature.

Yep, tthat's what I had in mind, too. i think I may have submitted a feature requestipn tht last year, nut maybe not.

But you don't actually need the mouse to create an E# if you want one. MuseScore does allow you to define keyboard shortcuts for the accidental symbols via Edit->Preferences->Shortcuts, so you can assign one with a single keystroke immediately after entering a note. That's also how one can enter courtesy accidentals, or the occasional accidental MuseScore does not want to display (like after a tie across a barline). I end up using these shortcuts all the time.
