Selecting a Note with it's properties

• Oct 17, 2011 - 21:37

1) In Sibelius, when we select a note, it's properties such as Dynamic/Expression Symbols, Lines, Techniques (pizzicato, arco) and other symbols will be selected too. This feature is much easier when we need to move (cut/copy-paste) a note with it's properties. We don't have to come back to the 'original bar' of the moved note just to delete it's properties and then put the same properties to the note in it's 'new bar', because we not only select the note but select it's properties too.

I need the same feature in Musescore. Thank you.

Perhaps this could be implemented as a selection rectangle:

Click and hold to establish one corner of the rectangle. Move the mouse and release to establish the diagonally opposite corner. All contents of the rectangle are selected.

This is similar to how it works now, but for notes only, not for any other elements. You could still select notes only in most cases, just by avoiding other objects in the selection process. In cases in which the rectangle grabs a few things too many, it should also be possible to shift-click or control-click on them to remove them from the selection set. This would be consistent with the way AutoCAD works.

Finale has a dialogue box in which you can tick the items you want to select.

By default these are all ticked.

I do think that the selection process in MuseScore needs tightening up.

Eg it is very frustrating to have to copy notes as well as lyrics, particularly as lyrics are often the last thing to be added to SATB parts

I also support this proposal. When copying a lengthy stretch of music with lots of dynamics, hairpins, etc. it's quite disspiriting to have to reinsert them all by hand. Being able to choose which elements to select sounds eminently sensible if it's not too awkward to implement.
