MuseScore 2.0.3 Resolution issues on high res screens and Windows 10

MuseScore 2.0.3
Have seen several posts/situations where users are experiencing resolution problems when running Windows 10 Home Edition on high video resolution screens (laptops, HDMI television, etc.). Having the same problem of having to view scores at 400% and not being able to see any of the various tool bar selections due to video resolution problems, perhaps this can be a problem resolution for others. My hardware configuration is a 17” screen laptop with duplicate desktop to a HDMI interfaced 32” HD TV running Windows 10 x64 (had to ditch the old Windows XP machine).

1. Noted that MuseScore 2.0.3 resides in Program Files (x86) a hint to having 32-bit program architecture.
2. Resolution steps (must be logged into an administrator account):
a. Right click on the MuseScore 2 start menu shortcut
b. Select the “more options”
c. Select the “open file location”
d. Right click the shortcut for MuseScore 2 and select “Properties”
e. Select the “Compatibility” tab
f. Locate the “Compatibility Mode” section
g. Check the box “Run this in compatibility mode for:”
h. Select “Windows XP (Service Pack 3)” from the dropdown selections just below the “Run this in compatibility mode for:” check box
i. As an administrator you can also select to “Change settings for all users” or you can simply select “Apply” or “OK” at the bottom of this tab.

Hope this helps. It sure solved the resolution problems I was experiencing with my new hardware setup. Have now made up for lost time.

Thank you for this. Although, if the weird old style window borders are making you uncomfortable, switching it to Windows 7 compatibility mode fixed it.

Really helped me with windows 10. Although i had to choose "Windows 7" because the “Windows XP (Service Pack 3)” didn't appear. But thank you so much!
