Dynamics not varying between linked staves
Hi there,
I've been having trouble in one composition, with dynamics interfering with each other between lines.
For one instrument, I have set 4 staves, rather than list the same instrument individually, four times. The part of the piece that I'm working on calls for an "ff" dynamic for staff 1, and an "mp" dynamic for the other three, but it seems that, on playback, all FOUR lines tend to play either "ff" or "mp", but not a mix of both as written. I have checked and double checked the layout of the dynamics, rearranged, restarted, and more, but the problem doesn't seem to be fixed.
I would rather not rewrite these lines as individual instruments, as this would appear messy, and would require me to re-write an amount of music.
Any advice or explanation would be greatly appreciated.

The default span for a dynamic is Instrument, but you can set it to System or Staff via the Inspector, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/dynamics#range-for-dynamics-text

If you intend this two be played by four separate people, you really should have these as four separate instruments. Otherwise you won't be able to generate separate parts, and a number of other things will go wrong in terms of how the staves are treated. Unless it is really a single instrument played by a single person reading four staves - which seems unlikely - you should do this using four instruments. Simply add the new instruments and then copy and paste; no need to start over. Not sure what you think would be "messy" about this - it will look almost exactly the same.
