Open repeat on cue

Searching for cue and open here only leads to cue notes...

What I am looking for is how to make a repeat open until leader cues out (not interested in playback). I am writing for big band, and solos are often open, until someone cues to continue.

I could write "open" and "on cue" in all 17 parts, but it's boring, and I'm not sure it's supposed to look that way in the score.

I have one way to do it (I thought I'd share), it's to use the tempo text. It appears only once in the score (instead of on each part), but pops-up in every separate part sheet.

As I said, I wanted to share this, and welcome better ways to do it.

Maybe a good idea to include a more generic way to make a single text in the score appear in all parts, for future versions?

You're on the right track when you think of tempo text, but that's really intended specifically for actual tempo changes. Instead, use "System", which has that same quality of only appearing on the top staff in the score, but without all the special tempo handling and formatting you don't want. In other words, it's exactly the generic solution you want. Ctrl+Shift+T is the shortcut.
