Unable to use playback / No soundcard registered via Ubuntu 12.04 LTE & Musescore 1.3
I've been trying to fix this issue, but Ican't find any solution to solve my problem. I'm unable to hear sound when placing notes, and the play button for playback is grayed out. I tried going into I/O and restoring it to default, I tried running a factory reset, and both did not work. I believe it's something with my audio, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Also as a side note, this is a dell chromebook using chronos-ubuntu.

First obvious thing to suggest is to use a more recent / supported version of MuseScore - the one you are trying is many years old. Get the current version and it will be easier to help - assuming it doesn't just work out of the box.

Can't. 12.04 LTE Ubuntu's latest musescore version is 1.3, and I only have v4 for the Qt library or something like that (when it requires v5). If I was using like 14.04 Ubuntu then this wouldn't be an issue, but I do not want to go through the hassle of switching everything to 14.04 right now.

You may try the portable AppImage version?
Edit: Oops, I see Marc said the same thing already
I'm pretty sure there is a PPA for 2.0 on 12.04, but admittedly not positive. I know I ran 2.0 when I was on 12.04. But anyhow, you can run the AppImage for sure - see the Downloads link. 1.3 is extremely out of date and not worth trying to get running when better options exists.
