Violin chord with notes of different value
I'm working on transcribing a cadenza for Mozart Violin Concerto No.3 (G Major), which includes a number of 3 and 4 note chords. It's common in violin notation that for a 4-note chord of minim value, the bottom two notes are shown as crotchets, while the top two are minim. This isn't a matter of two voices, all the notes belong on the same stem. In play, the G & D string notes are accented, with the A & E string notes sustained in a double-stop.
Is it possible to enter a chord note like this? The closest I could get was all four notes being minims.

to use 2 voices. All notes in a single voice at any one time will be the same duration.

Appreciate the feedback. Obviously this would be a nice feature to have. I'm a fair coder, perhaps I'll take a look at the code base and see if I can make any headway.
Out of curiosity, if I were to use two voices, would it be possible to "flip" the stem of the second voice so it would line up with the stem from the first voice? This would be another way to get the desired effect, wouldn't it?

This feature is available already and since quite a while (if not even ever since).

And by default voice 1 and 3 have stems up while voice 2 and 4 have stems down, but that can get changed:
Menu -> Style > Edit General Style... -> Voices -> Stem Direction in Multi Voice Context

and btw, I did RTFM, but no where does it describe the the fact that 3rd voice stems are up but I suppose it might be inferred since there is no where else for the stem to go - sideways is not an option. :)

Confirmed - using 1st and 3rd voice gave me exactly what I wanted, two minim and two crotchet notes on the same stem. Thanks.
Multiple voices has nothing to do with multiple staves, in fact, multple voices are always the *same* staff. If you want motes of different durations to appear at the same tome, multiple voices is the usual way to go. That said, the usual purpose for multplie voices is such that you wouldn't want the notes sharong a stem, so you will still have to fiddle with stems and positioning and so forth to get the effect you want. In this particular case, you would probably be better off just using the Note Properties in the right click menu to change the notehead type of individual notes. Then you wouldn't need multple voices at all.

I apologize for the confusion in my original post - I mistakenly used the term "staff" when I meant to write "stem". I have since corrected my original post. I'm aware of how voices work and have used them elsewhere in my transcription. However, as I note in my reply, I really don't want separate stems here. Violin chords with mixed minim and crotchet notes are shown on a single stem.
I'll have a look at note head properties as you suggest.

Is there a way to get rid of the extra rests created when adding another voice, or do you have to just go one by one and set them as invisible?

You can right click a rest -> Select -> More and select the rests in the same voice. You can then make them invisible with right click -> set invisible.

Was a feature to select rests in the same voice added recently? I only have an option to select rests in the same staff.

You should also see an entry in the right click menu that says "More", which brings up a dilaog allowing you to be more specific about what gets selected. But again. Unless you piece is highly inusual and only uses the special case situations whew rests can be hidden without breaking rules or affecting readability, you definitely don't want to hide all resta in any voice. You need to identify which measures constitute the special cases where rests can be hidden and only hide those. So there is no getting around needing to do the selecting manually (eg, ctrl-click).
