Transposing question

• Dec 2, 2016 - 05:06

I'm rewriting a piece for a friend and I want to use a part of a song in it. The song is in the key of C, but my piece is in G flat. How would I rewrite it? If one note is B, it will become B flat, but what would I do for a note that is already B flat?

Comments

The note B in in a C major scale is equal to the note F in a G flat major scale.
The note B flat in a C major scale is equal to the note E in a G flat major scale.

The easiest way in MuseScore to transpose a piece is using the transposition tool.

So why not write down the song in C Major in a separate score, transposing it to G flat, copy and paste the notes into your score?
