Help transposing tenor to alto clef
I'm really new to transposing and using musescore and I was trying to transpose a piece. I wrote out Burgmuller's nocturne for cello and guitar (just the cello part) in musescore. It is written in tenor clef. I wanted to know how I can turn it into alto clef so that I can read and play it on the viola. Do I just drag the alto clef over the tenor clef then subtract 2 flats? Also parts are in bass clef and the notes are highlited red. What does this mean and how can I also transpose the bass to alto? I've attached the musescore file and the original music. I'm looking at just the first nocturne.

it transposes appropriately. You may have to adjust the octave.
yes but you are not actually transposing so I do not see why you should remove flats.
the red notes mean its is hard to play (just ignore it, ...makes no sense)

The original is written for violoncello and can be played with it. The same notes can't be played with a viola, hence MuseScore tells you about this by turning notes red.
Seems you need to transpose it up by an octave.
By then the clefs don't seem to the right choices.

Here is a version with the passages with unplayable notes transposed up an octave.
I've put it into alto clef for you.

I used to play the viola myself many years ago when I was at school :)
