I don't think you pressed what you think you did. x would give you an error.
If I have understood:
try pressing F9
if it does not work you can try https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings
Not clear what you mean by ;workspace" - that has a specific meaning in MuseScore, but it's probably more technical / specific than what you have in mind. Can you describe your problem in more detail? What "workspace" do you mean? If you are referring to the display of the score (aka "canvas"), maybe you inadvertently scrolled it out of view. Try pressing the Home button to reset the view to the beginning of the score.
