Modifying barring in a midi file opened with Musescore

• Feb 21, 2012 - 22:07

I've just opened a midi file (piano, two staves, time signature 2/2) and would like to modify what's in front of me so that the first bar is a 1/2 pick-up. The subsequent bar lines of course need shifting to retain the rhythm and measure length. Any suggestions for a way to do this? I don't seem to be able to find anything that directly refers in the manual; but I am a complete newcomer and may have missed something.

I'm not sure I really understand, but you can select the phrase, go to another staff and by manipulating the the "rest" you now want the piece to occur on, you can shift everything. Be aware that MuseScore will not alter the actual rhythms you wrote - just everything will be shifted in notation time.

Moving notes to a different time position is normally done via cut & paste. Select all,, cut, then click the place you the music start (like, beat three of the first bar) and paste. Depending on the specifics of where you are moving from and to, you might want to create the pick upfirstor do it later.
