Ive got too many rests in some bars where I deleted notes. How can I get rid of extraneous rests?

1) increase their duration: "w" and/or dotting: "."
or
2) make invisible: "v"
In order to know what makes sense we'd need to see the actual score. Some of those rests might need to simply be combined (by lengthening the first one), others might need to be deleted or hidden (by hitting delete or V). No way for us to know which are which without seeing them.
