Is this a Musescore problem or a different computer problem?
I circulate musescore files by email to the parents of the children in my school orchestra.
One parent has said she cannot open my file because she "has reached the download limit for the trial version". This must be wrong I think? There is no trial version for musescore? It must be something to do with using her work computer?
Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want this member of my orchestra to miss out as he is a very aural learner who dislikes notation so will really benefit from using the playback feature.

There is no limit in using MuseScore software and there is no trial version at all. So it's probably a misunderstanding.
Not related but did you consider to use http://musescore.com instead of emails?
I'd guess it is her email program that is the trial version and is putting up the message.
