Muisc XML format compatability and playback issue in version 1.2
Hello,
Today, I was trying to play back the MIDI on a piece that I wrote in Musescore and converted to XML format for Finale.
The file was successful in opening, but I was unable to play it back even after trying to troubleshoot.
I should clarify that I was trying to play the file back in Finale. It was fine in Musescore.
I was able to play the files back before the update of Musescore to 1.2
What could be the problem and is this something that could be fixed in the next update?

Posting the file would help.
But just to be clear: you're saying the file was created in MuseScore, exported to XML, then loaded into Finale, and it's in Finale that it won't play back? And the same file when exported to MusicXML by 1.1 worked fine, but for some reaosn you then loaded that file back into MuseScore 1.2 and re-exported it, and the newly exported version is the one that doesn't work.

That is correct.
I am still working on the piece and so after the update I needed to work on it again and save it to XML so that my professor could open it in Finale, which is what the University has.
We were able to view it, but not play it back.
If I post the file, would it need to be in the XML or in the Musescore format?
Or both?

Seems to me the most useful would be to have the MuseScore file, since the problem - assuming it's not actually a Finale bug - would seem to be in the generation of the MusicXML file. Seeing a bad file isn't nearly as helpful for debugging purposes as seeing a series of steps to follow that result in a bad file being generated. That way a developer has a chance of catching MuseScore in the act.

Could your professor not download and install MuseScore?
Then there would be no need for this transfer process.

I cannot reproduce the problem. A few files created in MuseScore 1.1 and saved as MusicXML in both MuseScore 1.1 and 1.2 import OK in Finale NotePad 2012 and play back equally well.
Questions:
- what exactly do you mean by "does not play back" ?
- which Finale version are you using ?
- could you attach the files ? Preferably the MuseScore file and the MusicXML files produced by MuseScore 1.1 and 1.2.
