Panning

• Mar 27, 2012 - 22:54

I'm running v1.1 on Windows XP and panning does not work even with Rev and Cho off (both dials at extreme left)) - sound comes from both speakers equally. Do I have to switch on the panning control or something to activate it?
Thanks

It's advised to upgrade to MuseScore 1.2 first. This way, the community can give you more adequate feedback if the problem still occurs.

Yep done that. Retried and still not panning. BUT then I changed the Sound from Strings CLP to Piano 1 and then panning DID work! So I'm confused. Piece is attached. The reason I wanted to pan one stave right and the other left is to test whether the theme you can hear in Tchaikovsky is still the same (because this theme is not played by either the 1st or 2nd violins - it is an "audio illusion"). With Piano 1 selected you CAN pan left and right (and the audio illusion works just the same). But I'm still curious why panning does not work with Strings.

Btw the new default opening piece is brilliant!

It's quite possible that the Strings sound in the TimGN6Mb Soundfont is a mono sample, which would explain why it won't pan.

It would be easy to check this using Viena or another soundfont editor.
