varying spacing between staff lines
Hi,
I need to make part of the score to appear smaller than the rest (i.e. smaller notes on staff with small spacing between lines). How can I do that? Editing "General Style" seems to affect the entire score. So does "Staff Properties -> small staff". Thanks in advance!
Comments
Right click a measure and choose Stave Properties.
Checking the "Small" box should do what you require.

ALso, you can choose a group of measures and apply to all at the same time. :-)

Thanks, but for me, it makes the entire score staves to change, not just the one selected. What do I do wrong?

My fault I misread your needs.
I thought you wanted the whole of one stave to be small.
Are you by any chance trying to do an Ossia?
Searching the forums for that should give you some help, although it is very fiddly in 1.2 there is better support in 2.0 I believe.

If you set one staff small via staff properties, it affects just that staff. Throughout the staff, of course. Not sure what you were trying to do - make the clarinet part or whatever be normal for most for the score, then suddenly become small for just one section? I'm having trouble picturing how that could make sense, so I agree, a picture of what you are talking about (eg, scan in something from a published score that does this) would help us understand your question.
Any chance of a picture/sketch of what you are after?
