prevent duplicate notification emails for posts on subscribed projects

As creator of the TempoChanges plugin, I've subscribed myself to be notified of all issues for the TempoChanges project.

This result in me receiving an email whenever an issue or a comment is added to the project: this is expected and mostly OK: you receive this type of email as well for your own posts.
Once I comment on one of those issues though; a 2nd subscription is activated conform the more general 'commenter' rule.

This means that for each new comment now added to that issue, I receive two emails: is there a way to make the notification system smart enough to reduce the sent mails in this use case?
