How to connect more than one note at the same time?
I have tried ctrl+S, but every time I did it on the second note, the first slur at the first note just disappeared. How can I "slur" several notes together?

don't think you can use ctrl+S to to make a slur (it definitely doesn't work on my 1.2 setup, windows xp).
the handbook describes 2 methods to slur multiple notes.
for the "second method", you select two notes (start and end) and then press "S" -- does that work for you?
As noted, it's "S", not "Ctrl-S", to create a slur. But also, read the link to the handbook to see how you extend the slur to more than two notes (it involves the arrow keys).
