Translating the site for the Albanian locale (sq)

• May 29, 2012 - 11:40

Hello,

I'd like to provide the translation of the site into Albanian (sq locale). I'd prefer to have the strings in .po format, since I've got a large TM from other projects which I could use to speed up the process.

TIA
Besnik

Hey Besnik,

For the MuseScore software:
Find attached the MuseScore 1.2 pot file. It's not an empty file as it contains the British English translation. You can wipe that out. Once you are ready, or you have some an amount, upload the po file back in this topic and I will import the file in the online translation server at http://translate.musescore.org

For the site musescore.org:
We don't have a po file, since all the content is stored in the database on the site. Your account now has translator rights and in order to get started, read the translation instructions .

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Welcome on board!

Thank you, Thomas!
I'm not familiar with APIs or databases. But you might already know about the existence of big translation management projects like Pootle or Transifex. Perhaps the developers of them might help. I can ask them. Or is this too much work for little gain? If they express willingness to help, who should I contact on Musescore side?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Can you rephrase it?

I've setup everything on *.musescore.org so I guess you are talking with the right person. I'm aware of the translation management projects Pootle/Transifax and indeed, I'm contemplating whether we should move the translation of the MuseScore software to these projects. This will free up some of my time which I can dedicate on something else.

The content of the musescore.org site can not be ported to anywhere else, but has to be translated on here. So far it worked out pretty well, with more than 30 translations.

My intention was to have the content of the site translatable as a .po file, supposing that such a file could be created from the guys of Transifex or Pootle, (or anyone who could help), using some API which might be available for musescore.org.

Ok, I missed that point. Good you repeated it again.
I have no idea yet whether this would be possible. Meaning, getting a po file from the content on MuseScore.org is out of the question. But since MuseScore.org is using Drupal, perhaps there is a Drupal module that delegates the translation work to the Transifex API. Will have to look into that.
