Semicolon not placing rest on Tablature
Ver 2.0.3 in win 7 I have elec guit for standard notation and EG Tab for linked staff, and have tried all combinations of linked/unlinked. I have saved the configuration several times - now when i come back to the ADD instr screen, neither is marked linked. Actually, that is coincidental to the main issue, which is that the semicolon doesn't input any rests at all, and I've tried all those combinations, trying alt/sh + ; and ctrl ;, and sh ;...etc. no response...so, the encompassing issue is that it seems to indicate that with a LINKED STAFF that entry in one would initiate an entry in the other...thanks for any help on this one...

Can you attach the score you are having problems with?
Use the "File attachments" option at the bottom of the page, just above the Save and Preview buttons when you're typing your post.

To display the rests in Tab, you must choose the staff type: "Full".
If the staff type is "Simple" or "Common", you may nevertheless receive rests after doing this: right-click on the tab -> Staff properties -> Advanced style properties -> Note values -> Tick "Show rests" -> Ok

thanks - i went over the instructions many tines and missed that somewhere - but what bout the issue of "LINKED" staff - it seems to be saying that if you enter on notation, that the tab would eb updated simultaneously, and vice versa - that's still not happening...
OR does it mean something else?

EDIT: on you attached file below, the staves were not linked because you have entered two instruments (Guitar with standard staff, and another Guitar with Tab staff)
To link: you must choose an instrument (say Electric guitar with default standard staff), and then add a new staff (linked Tab) at this instrument, as on my attached file ("1Voyage")

that did it - and it's updating etc; the frets it picks are too low on the neck, is there a way to force higher frets automatically?

MuseScore is not supposed to guess the location of the desired frets.
So either you enter the fret numbers directly via the Tab, and so it is a manner to get "automatically" what you want.
Either you enter the notes via the standard staff, and then, depending on what you want, you can select one fret or more, or a range of frets (eg a measure on the attached file below, ie measure 3 in Tab staff) and then do: Ctrl + Down (as on my example) or Up.
