How to create separate systems

• Jul 18, 2012 - 10:50

I want to create many different systems which are not related to each other. Also each has a different Key and Time Signature.
I tried using Line Break but they are still related (which means they still have the same Key and Time Signature).
Can anybody help? I wonder is this even possible?

It is possible in 1.2 but is very tricky to set up as you have to fiddle with courtesy time and key signature settings (see Style menu).

In the upcoming 2.0 release there is a Section break designed specifically for this purpose, and which will make life a lot easier for those of us needing to do that.

See attached "score". Just be sure to go to Style -> Edit General Style -> Page and un-check courtesy time and key signatures and then go the Numbers tab and uncheck bar and page numbers for neatness. Place an end-of-line mark at the end of each system and then change the time and/or key for the next one. You have several other tools (frames etc.) at your disposal to create the final desired appearance. Just save often and don't be afraid to experiment.

Thank you guys a lot. Looking forward to 2.0. I did like you said, Underquak, and it worked beautifully.

By the way I have another problem. Whenever I double click a MSCZ file it says "error reading file ... at line 1 column 1". I can do it in another way by CTRL + O in Musescore but it's not really convenience. Any idea how to fix it?

(I'm using Windows XP)

Thanks you guys!

Sounds like your file associations are not set properly, and that apWindows is trying to open the file with some program other than MuseScore. I forget how to fiddle with file associations in XP, but I'd start by right clicking and trying "open with", selecting MuseScore, and being sure to click the box to always use tis program.
