Beginning when I created my musescore account, I can't open musescore from my applications menu HELP

I amn running umbuntu 12.4 studio with the package download including musescore1.1. Earlier tonight I set up my musescore account and now when I click on musescore in my applications menu it fails to open (or do anything). I don't understand how these two conditions could possibly be related.Please help me. I have lots of score creation to do before church this sunday aand I cannot afford this kind of time loss,
