I don't think there is any need to drop support for MuseScore 1.x, not yet at least. Just add the .js from version 1.0.1 back into the zip.
MusesScore 1.x will ignore the .qml and 2.0 will ignore the .js, so both could coexist.
Provided the .jar haven't been changed (in an incpmpatible way), that is...

The MIDI Sight Reader only every worked with some nightly builds of MuseScore. It did not work with version 1.x.
I have made the old version available for download again.
